CUHK - a new teaching building

client: chinese university hong kong

This building, for the study of architecture, shares a historical vision with other great schools of architecture as centres of discourse, exhibition, research, and discovery. The building comprises seven storeys of accommodation totalling 7600m2 (gross). The design accommodates a level of lower ground floor parking positioned over workshops and plant. The upper ground floor comprises reception, exhibition and a learning resource centre. Classrooms occupy the first floor, laboratories to the second floor, with studios to the third and fourth floors leading to a roof studio. A four storey sculptural concrete support wing fronts the ‘factory for learning’ and houses exhibition spaces, tutor’s and admin offices.
