KRO2 is situated within Oxford House, and occupies the former lecture theatre of this ex-University Building.
Two distinct volumes form the space: the contained double height concrete ‘box’ of the original lecture theatre, and a more recent single storey glazed extension forming a light and airy ‘conservatory’ fronting Oxford Road.
The entirely glazed elevations mean that the whole interior effectively becomes a ‘shop front’ onto Oxford Road. By day activity within the conservatory is clearly visible from the street, by night the interior lighting reveals the layering of the interior spaces beyond.
